My Thoughts
I loved this beautifully haunting written tale of four friends and how they gripped with growing up in the streets of Brooklyn. We met August as she moves from the South to Brooklyn after the death of her mother. We see flashes of her old life and how once she moves the tough challenges she faces in her new neighborhood. We get to know her friends the girls who take her in but in the end, we see some aren’t really friends at all.
The way this novel is written is something I can't really explain. Everything about this read is amazing and you feel drawn in, with it being less than 200 pages you get a full blown story that rivals some big reads. This is one read that demands to be read, it gives you hope, love and shows us that tragedy and where you from doesn’t have to stop your dreams or slow you down but just makes you a stronger person.
