Synopsis
In case you were wondering, I didn’t do it. I didn’t have anything to do with Frank’s death. I don’t have an alibi, so you’ll have to take my word for it...

Forty-eight hours after leaving her husband’s body at the base of the stairs, Tanya Dubois cashes in her credit cards, dyes her hair brown, demands a new name from a shadowy voice over the phone and flees town. It’s not the first time.

She meets Blue, a female bartender who recognizes the hunted look in a fugitive’s eyes and offers her a place to stay. With dwindling choices, Tanya-now-Amelia accepts. An uneasy―and dangerous―alliance is born.

It’s almost impossible to live off the grid today, but Amelia-now-Debra and Blue have the courage, the ingenuity, and the desperation, to try. Hopscotching from city to city, Debra especially is chased by a very dark secret…can she outrun her past?

With heart-stopping escapes and devious deceptions, The Passenger is an amazing psychological thriller about defining yourself while you pursue your path to survival. One thing is certain: the ride will leave you breathless.

My Thoughts
“In case you were wondering, I didn’t do it. I didn’t have anything to do with Frank’s death. I don’t have an alibi, so you’ll have to take my word for it...”

Those are the first words that drew me into this wonderful mystery/suspense thriller by Lisa Lutz. When we first met Tanya we find over standing over her dead husband's body and when we hear those words we are from there taken on a wild ride one that takes us on a journey where you never know what will happen. You are always questioning everyone and everything and never believing what you read because can you really believe someone who would leave someone to die? Once she is on the run she meets up with the mysterious Blue who herself has a questionable past but when she seeks out to help Tanya you have to wonder what exactly is she up to.

This is a fast paced book that takes us through the journey of Tanya or whoever she is, and slowly like peeling back the layers of an onion we get to see who she really is and how exactly she got to where she is today. By the end, everything is explained and my opinion of her was definitely changed from what I thought about her in the beginning. This is an action pack read one that gives us lots to think about and one that constantly has us changing what we think will come next. I highly recommend this read it is one that will keep you glued from the very first sentence.

  1. It's certainly a popular book these days. Reviews everywhere. I've read this author before, but those books were more humorous. I'll think about this one.

  2. I skimmed your review because I just got this one for review yesterday. Can't wait to read it, especially seeing the 5/5 stars. I know this book is a departure from Lutz's other ones, so it will be interesting to see how it compares. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  3. I loved the momentum of the tale - breakneck speed all the way.

This is definitely a book I read straight through because there were just too many unanswered questions that I HAD to find the answers to.

And the ending...and the epilogue were perfect.
