Synopsis
Juliet McKenzie was an innocent eighteen-year old when she spent the summer in Cedar Cove—and fell head over heels in love with Emerson. Complicated, intense Emerson, the local bad boy. His blue eyes hid dark secrets, and just one touch could set Juliet ablaze. Their love was demanding and all-consuming, but when summer ended, tragedy tore them apart. Juliet swore she’d never go back, and she’s kept that promise… Until now.

Four years later, Juliet’s done her best to rebuild the wreckage of her shattered life. She’s got a great boyfriend, and a steady job planned after she graduates. Returning to Cedar Cove to pack up her family’s beach house to prepare it for sale, Juliet is determined that nothing will stand in the way of her future. But one look from Emerson, and all her old desire comes flooding back. He let her go once, but this time, he’s not giving up without a fight. And Emerson fights dirty.

A heartbreaking history. An unstoppable passion. Torn between her past and future, Juliet struggles to separate love from desire. But will they find a way to overcome their tragic secrets—together? And after so much damage has been done, can a love remain unbroken?

My Thoughts
We flash forward four years after that faithful summer and how the lives of Juliet and Emerson have changed. We see Juliet has moved on and is in college with a new life and boyfriend. As much as she has moved on Emerson is always somewhere in the back of her mind, but since that day years ago she has never returned to Beachwood Bay until recently when she has to. After the death of her mother her father is determined to sell the beach house and it’s up to Juliet to go back and tie up loose ends, when she goes back she doesn’t want to see Emerson but of course their paths are bound to pass. One night it happens and just like she hope wouldn’t happen those feels came back in full force and she knew right there she was a goner. And as much as she still loves him she won’t let him break her heart again but she does want to know what happen all those years ago that he left her without any answers to why.

Emerson has always had a chip on his shoulder, always a tough guy who had to grow up too soon. His mom was a drunk and it was up to him to take care of his siblings and the family. He never knew love until he meet Juliet she made him want more out of life and she made me believe he deserved it. He was already to start a life with Juliet when something made him put her needs over his and he never looked back. So when he left Juliet that day years ago he vowed to leave her alone…until that day when she came back. Now he is heartbroken when he sees her again and finds out she has the life she always wanted and also a new boyfriend, but as much as he tries to respect her life now he knows deep in his soul that he never should’ve let her go. Emerson is determined to get Juliet back at any cost even if that means letting Juliet think it was his fault that he left her instead of letting her find out the truth.

This is a story of true love and heartache. Sometimes love can be ugly and hurtful and not a fairytale like we wish it is. Sometime we have to go through struggles in order to find that true love but those obstacles make us stronger and then we can appreciate what we have when we get it. Timing is everything and maybe Emerson and Juliet weren’t meant to be together in the beginning they had to go through things in their lives and once they did now they truly know what they want in life and love. The passion between these two is undeniable and that’s what makes their story one to root for.
